Spring Event Day 2007 – Don’t miss 2008 start planning now we are!
The W.H. Adamson 2007 Spring Event Day started with a barbeque in the
schools lunchroom. The food and companionship was ~ wonderful and the banana pudding was world class. Lots of visiting going on as
graduates talked to graduates, catching up on each other and sharing stories of days at Adamson and Oak Cliff High.
Speaking of that, the oldest graduate in attendance was Kemp Johnson,
class of 1929, Oak Cliff High School. The adjectives to describe him include spry, dapper, and articulate. We were very happy to introduce him to the crowd.
Our speaker, Brenda Brodnax Hayward '59 proved a popular featured speaker as she relived her days at Adamson. As the first ever Miss Teenage America, she has had a life very different than most of us,
and all of it interesting. Thank you Brenda!
Hall of Honor plaques were presented to the school during the Assembly. Those inducted into this
distinguished group were Col. Alfred Coffey '36, Elayne Hardison Geer '46, and Ira Hopper '26. The family of Ira had over a dozen friends and family in attendance.
The bus tour is almost always the favorite part of Spring Event and it included walking tours of Mr. Adamson's house and the almost restored Texas Theatre. The memories that people express while
riding the bus around old Oak Cliff are always entertaining.
We always hold Spring Event on the Saturday closest to Mr. Adamson's April twenty sixth birthday,
and next year's Spring Event happens to fall on his birthday.
