As another school year comes to a close, I could not help but wonder what's going on with the Adamson preservation project. We've been told not to worry and that the matter is in good hands, but it seems that every time I have been told these things in life, something I care about is usually destroyed. I guess if nothing is really being done,I can drive to Oak Cliff and and lay in front of the bulldozers when they arrive!

Norman, There is a very aggressive effort going on now and it looks more positive than negative but with that said it's taking lots of work by some capable attorneys from our Alumni. As soon as possible I'll put developments on our site. I can understand your frustration. The building has just had a good refurbishing. But you know what happens when someone finds government matching funds lying around. Be ready we may need you down here for a show of sanity.

Norman Grey ' 64 5-12-2008 09:41 AM
Thanks, Ron, for the encouraging words! Part of my frustration is that I am so far away. If there comes a time when I need to attend something to help out on this effort, I hope someone will let me know. I want to continue to thank you for all the great work you have done on this website. It has been fun participating.

What is the latest on preserving Adamson? Are there any class of '47 alums known to any of you younger folks? Thanks for the website.

With the various rundowns on famous
alums, I'm surprised to see no mention of Ray Wylie Hubbard, Class of '65.

On the subject of greatest teams: I've got great respect for the accomplishments of the '64 team, and several others. But I'll note once again that six members of the '63 team took on that '64 team during the Christmas holidays of 1963...and waxed 'em.

BILL, I'M WORKING ON AN EXTENDED LIST THAT INCLUDES RAY WYLIE HUBBARD. THE LIST OF NOTABLES KEEPS GROWING FASTER THAN MOST EXPECTED. LOTS OF HISTORY AT ADAMSON.

Norman Grey ' 64 4-28-2008 04:20 PM
Regarding Halstead's assertion of a Christmas holiday victory by the '63 team over the '64 team, I must confess that I have no recollection of such an event. Therefore, it must have been something of far greater significance in the minds of the '63 team than it was in the minds of the '64 team. The '63 team was a great team and I had as much fun playing for that team as I did for the '64 team. There was a special intangible element to the '64 team, though, that I think was lacking in the '63 team that I can't fully explain. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding, and the '64 team made it all the way to the state championship game, losing a fairly close game to a team that finished 38-1!

Just wanted to pop in and let you know....I am the niece of Hank Price III (class of '63) and his singing career turned into an opera career! He has been all over the world in many distinguished operas. He's now living in Malibu with his wife of 43 years on the Pepperdine campus and is a professor of music there. Oh, and we're not related at all to Ray Price, lol

Hi Fellow Leopards. I am from the classes of 1983 to 86 era. I didn't graduate from Adamson (parents divorced had to go to a school in Mesquite). But, I always felt like Adamson was my home. I miss all the people there. I was looking at my old yearbooks. God what were we thinking then. I remember I had so much fun there. I haven't changed much. Twice married (2nd one is my true soul mate)and I have 2 wonderful boys (19 and 18).

Anyway, it will see the old Adamson gone. I went to the old James Hogg and it was hard to see it go. I also, went to Griener and it was hard to see it go too. But, now Adamson; what is our city thinking. No matter were I am or were I go. I will always have very fond memories of Adamson and Oak Cliff.

Anyone wanting to talk to me. E-mail me at aigle2k6@yahoo.com

THE WOMAN THAT PLAYED "REBECCA" ON THE DANIEL BOONE SHOW WAS PATSY BLAKE. SHE LATER CHANGED HER NAME TO PATRICIA BLAIR WHEN SHE STARTED HER CAREER IN HOLLYWOOD.
