Oak Cliff Memories.................. These days teens in my city complain
about having nothing to do. In my teen days in Oak Cliff, we seemed to always have something to do, even though few of us had cars, and we did not have cable TV or internet.
I remember many fun times with my girlfriend or my buddies at Wee Saint Andrews miniature golf course. There were two courses, one
carpet and one sawdust.
I preferred to play the sawdust course because it was much more forgiving with errant putts. The
sawdust slowed the ball down. You could strike the putt pretty darn hard and the putt would stay pretty well under control. Best of all, miniature golf was pretty cheap.
After a couple of rounds of golf, my girlfriend and I could grab a couple of burgers, fries and drinks
at Jack In The Box. The whole evening would cost less than $5.00. Today, the things my teens wanted to do seemed to always involve a major investment on my part.
Maybe, that's why my parents used to call their teen days "the good old days" the way I now refer to mine!
